Hourglass
An hourglass of silver and gold with handblown glass.
An hourglass of silver and gold with handblown glass.
From concept to end product. Inspired by vanitas (a symbolic work of art showing the certainty of death: 'Memento Mori').
The 'raw' hourglass before starting the finishing process. It can be completely disassembled by removing the screws.
The handblown glass is filled with the (oxidised) file-dust that was lost in the making of the hourglass.
Shown in the Masterpieces exhibition 2011 in the Dutch Silver Museum in the city of Schoonhoven.
A white and yellow gold set of wedding rings with diamonds.
Before creating the final wedding rings, I create a prototype.
For this wedding rings prototype I used silver and brass.
Making a prototype is ideal, among other things, to determine the right ring size.
In addition, an accurate impression of the end product is given.
Pieces of yellow gold jewelry from both families were used.
The pieces were melted and poured to make the yellow gold rings.
Two stripes of yellow gold were measured to shape the rings.
After precise measuring the two ring sizes, the rings were shaped.
The white and yellow gold parts of the rings ready to solder.
Soldering the white and yellow gold parts together.
After cleaning, hand polishing for the rings could begin.
Polishing the finished rings (after setting the diamonds).
White and yellow gold (from both of the families) were used.
The ring of the female was set with three diamonds.
Both rings were engraved with the date of the wedding.
